Be ye also ready; for in
such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man
cometh. Matthew 24:44
One morning as I awoke, I
felt an urgency to clean my house. I could
not explain my feelings but I knew that I
had to make sure that the bathrooms were
clean, the sheets were changed, the
furniture polished and the carpet vacuumed.
I made sure the floors were mopped and I
even cleaned a few windows. I wanted
everything to be spotless. My husband and
children asked why I was cleaning the way I
was. After all, spring was still a few
months away. I replied, “I have this feeling
that someone is coming to visit with us.” We
had been invited to a friend’s house for a
cookout that afternoon. I told my husband
that I wasn’t sure if I could go because
someone was coming. He talked me into going,
but before I left I placed a note on our
front door letting our visitor know where we
were. I was that sure of their coming. While
at the house of our friends, I kept looking
out of the corner of my eye for that
visitor. The lady of the house asked me if I
was okay and why did I keep looking out of
the corner of my eye as if I was looking for
someone. I told her that someone was coming.
As soon as the words left my mouth I looked
in the direction of the side of her house
and there was our visitor. The lady of the
house knew that they were coming and could
not tell us. I yelled out, “I knew it! I
knew it! I told you that someone was coming!
A few days later I was
reminded of how I worked so hard to get my
earthly house clean in expectation of those
visitors. The Lord wants us to keep our
spiritual temple (house) clean before Him.
We are His temple. The Lord showed me a
picture of a refrigerator and how we keep
putting things into it and never taking them
out- that is until the contents have become
moldy. We begin to stink. God wants us to
get rid of the garbage. “IT IS TIME TO CLEAN
HOUSE!” We must not only be looking for His
return; we must be EXPECTING His return!
